The Gallery is situated in the heart of rural Staffordshire, surrounded by open farmland and bounded by the River Blythe. Built on the site of the original farmhouse, the gallery is part of Ridware Arts, a group of artists’ studios and workshops founded in 2002 by resident artist Deb Walker and bespoke picture framer Ian Hunter of ‘Hunter Frames’, who also run a continuous programme of recreational art classes and one day workshops.
The farm itself dates back to the nineteenth century and is still a working arable farm today, whilst also housing a busy community of diverse, individual businesses. The local area is renowned for walking and fishing and is only nine miles north of the historic city of Lichfield. The gallery, in its tranquil setting, promotes original 2 and 3D works of art. “In a world of mass production, ‘the gallery’ has a passion for the ‘individual and unique’, with a direct link to the artist or maker.”
